Bailing Out Benji was established in 2011 and is dedicated to educating the public and providing them with the most accurate and current data on the puppy mill industry.
It is our belief that a grassroots approach by concerned citizens is the most effective way to bring about change for animals and humans alike. Our focus is to encourage advocacy by providing the tools necessary to educate children and adults alike, while presenting the information in a non-graphic way. Our tax EIN is 47-1652323
Although our mission is to eradicate the cruel breeding practices that occur in puppy mills all over the country, our volunteers are committed to helping animals locally in their own communities. Through our Benji Cares program, we are able to make a huge impact for people and animals alike.
Local Pet Food Banks
Bailing Out Benji knows that pets are family. Because of this, we believe that families going through rough times, shouldn’t have to make a decision between feeding their pets and paying other bills. The pet food pantry campaign was initiated in 2017 by founder Mindi Callison to relieve some stress for families by providing short term help with pet food in Story County, Iowa. Within a few months, our team in Round Rock, Texas founded their own food bank to further help the animals in their community.
Those in need can contact Bailing Out Benji for assistance and our volunteers will meet or deliver food. We will do our best to help our as long as the following are met:
- The pets are not being used for breeding or other illegal purposes
- The pets are kept indoors as family animals
- The pets are spayed/neutered (we will help find assistance for this if they are not)
*Benji Cares Pet Food Banks are only active in Story County, Iowa and Round Rock, Texas at this point.

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey devastated the Gulf Coast. Our Texas team, with the help of our volunteers in other states, sprang into action and collected donations from across the United States and delivered them to shelters and communities that were affected by the storm. Going forward, Benji Cares is committed to helping out the pets of communities hit by natural disasters. Donations to our Benji Cares fund may be used to help out families, shelters, and rescues affected by hurricanes, fires, and tornados.
