In an effort to bring more transparency to the online puppy marketplace, Bailing Out Benji recently conducted an in-depth audit of Puppies.com, one of the largest websites connecting breeders with potential buyers. With growing concerns about puppy mills using online platforms to sell dogs, our goal was simple: to determine which sellers listing puppies on the site had verifiable ties to problematic breeding facilities or which ones were operating without the proper license.
Immediately we were able to determine that at the time of our first inspection there were more than 67,000 puppies for sale on Puppies.com with more than 15,000 sellers listed on their website. By using a combination of publicly available data, breeder licensing records, and investigative research, our team is currently analyzing the listings on Puppies.com to identify sellers who have a recent history of violations or are operating without a license. What we are uncovering daily raises critical questions about the website’s role in the broader puppy mill pipeline and reinforces the need for stronger consumer protections in the online pet market.
This project is ongoing due to the sheer number of sellers that have profiles on the website! We will continue to update this list as we go, but please know that many facilities will continue to be withheld until the proper complaints can be filed.
Auditing online brokering websites is a costly project but it is extremely important. At this time, we are the only nonprofit organization focused on researching online puppy mills in this fashion. If you are able to make a donation to support our work, we would greatly appreciate it!

The public funds puppy mills and keeps them in business each time a family gives a subpar breeding facility money. It is critical for any potential puppy-buyer to do their research into a breeder before they exchange any money in order to protect themselves, their new puppy, and their puppy’s parents. For questions to ask a breeder before you buy, click here.
The information below shows an example of the breeders that are currently / have recently been selling on puppies.com. Because there are 15,000 active sellers, we will not be able to list each one but we can try to answer any questions you may have by filling out the form below.
