2.40(b)(2) (Direct) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
A 1-year-old female Yorkshire terrier (m/c# 992000001390028) was squinting its left eye. There was a thick yellow discharge in the eye and the hair around the eye was wet. The cornea of the eye was blue and opaque and had a white area in the center. The right eye had a clear discharge and the cornea was a light blue. The licensee had not noticed these problems and so the dog had not received veterinary care. Eye problems can be painful, can progress quickly, can result in vision loss, and can be contagious to other dogs. The licensee must have this dog examined and diagnosed by a veterinarian, must follow treatment recommendations, and must keep a written medical record for review by the inspector. TO BE CORRECTED BY July 27, 2023. NOTE: The licensee made an appointment with a veterinarian during the inspection. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n
