2.134(a) (Non-Critical) – Contingency planning.
The licensee does not have a contingency plan for their facility. Lack of contingency planning does not ensure that adequate and appropriate care will be provided to the animals in the event of an emergency or disaster. The licensee must develop, document, and follow an appropriate plan to provide for the humane handling, treatment, transportation, housing, and care of their animals in the event of an emergency or disaster (one which could reasonably be anticipated and expected to be detrimental to the good health and well-being of the animals in their possession). The plan must be reviewed and documented on at least an annual basis, and training must be provided to personnel regarding roles and responsibilities outlined in the plan.
3.8 (Non-Critical) – Exercise for dogs.
The licensee did not have an updated written exercise program for dogs available for review. The plan that was provided was outdated and addressed dogs being housed in compatible groups when the current dogs are being housed individually. A developed and documented plan that is approved by the attending veterinarian is important so that dogs are provided with the opportunity for adequate exercise. Correct by developing and documenting a written exercise plan that is approved by your attending veterinarian.
3.13(a) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The licensee did not have a complete program of veterinary care developed, documented in writing, and signed by the attending veterinarian. The form had been started and a vet visit was scheduled but the visit had not yet occurred. A written program of veterinary care for dogs including regular scheduled visits, complete physical exams, vaccinations, parasite sampling and control, preventative care and treatments, is important to ensure adequacy of veterinary care for all dogs. Correct by developing a written program of veterinary care for dogs that is approved and signed by the attending veterinarian. This is a 1st Re-License Inspection for a Class B license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspections or by 5/26/23 or the applicant will forfeit the license fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Re-License Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing USDA license until it expires. n
