3.8 (Non-Critical) – Exercise for dogs.
The facility does not have a developed and documented Exercise Plan for Dogs. This plan is important because it outlines how the facility will provide for the opportunity for exercise of dogs while housed at the facility. The plan must account for dogs housed individually or in groups, and the standard procedures to be followed in providing the opportunity for exercise (frequency, method, and duration of exercise permitted). Correct by developing and documenting a written exercise plan for dogs, approved by the Attending Veterinarian, and made available to APHIS officials upon request. Correct by: October 1, 2023
3.13(a)(3) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The licensee is not following the Program of Vet Care (PVC) as prescribed. The PVC prescribes for the use of injectable Ivermectin to be given orally to adult dogs once per month for the prevention of heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is a parasitic infection spread by mosquitos. Affected dogs may be asymptomatic, or may have coughing, lethargy, or exercise intolerance. Correct by ensuring that sampling and treatment of parasites, including heartworm disease, be performed in accordance with a schedule and plan approved by the AV. Correct by: October 1, 2023 This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the facility representative. n

2.126(b) (Non-Critical) – Access and inspection of records and property; submission of itineraries.
A responsible adult was not available to accompany the APHIS Official during the inspection process at 1:45pm on October 15, 2024. The inspector attempted to contact the licensee by arriving at the facility. The inspector spoke with a family member who stated the licensee was away from the facility, not reachable by phone, and not expected back for several hours. Failure to provide access to the facility, animals, and records for inspection is a serious violation of the AWA and regulations. Failure to comply may result in enforcement action. End Section
