2.50(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Time and method of identification.
Three male exotic/domestic cats and one female cat were not properly identified. The licensee uses metal tags to identify the exotic /domestic cats and single cat at the facility. One of the male exotic/domestic cats did not have a metal id tag or any form of identification. The single cat’s identification tag and two of the exotic/domestic cats’ identification tags were fastened to enclosures that didn’t contain the animals. Lack of proper identification does not allow for tracking of animals entering and leaving the facility. All live cats held on the premises, shall be identified by an official tag, tattoo, or microchip approved by the Administrator. Correct by: 12-28-21

3.6(a)(2)(ix) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
The carpets inside of three shared indoor enclosures, each containing one exotic/domestic cat and one serval, are excessively worn and/or can no longer be sanitized. Two of the carpets are located in the newer animal room, inside both of the shared enclosures. The other carpet is located in the older animal room, inside the largest indoor enclosure. Additionally, another carpet, located adjacent to the largest indoor enclosure is excessively worn/stained. The staining and inability to properly sanitize the carpets are a disease hazard to the animals. All surfaces in contact with the animals must be readily cleaned and sanitized or be replaced when worn or soiled. 2.40(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
**A review of records at the time of inspection indicated the attending veterinarian had not visited the facility since 2019. The licensee indicated the animals are taken to the veterinary clinic for routine visits, however, no regularly scheduled visits had been made by the attending veterinarian since 2019. The attending veterinarian should review the written program of veterinary care in addition to performing regularly scheduled visits to the facility in order to ensure the health and well-being of the animals according to established veterinary standards. Correct by November 27, 2023

2.134(b) (Non-Critical) – Contingency planning.
**There was no written contingency plan available for review at the time of inspection. Written documentation of the contingency plan should be maintained and reviewed on an annual basis in order to provide for the humane handling and care of the animals in the event of an emergency or disaster. Contingency plans and any applicable documentation should be available to APHIS representatives during the unannounced inspections. Correct by December 8, 2023 This is a 1st Re-License Inspection for a Class “A” license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspection(s) or by (January 08, 2024)-60 days counted from 1st RL Inspection or the applicant will forfeit the license fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Re-License Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing USDA license until it expires. n

3.125(a) (Non-Critical) – Facilities, general.
An enclosure housing a serval had an outdoor gate where one of the posts at the bottom was rusted through. It had jagged edges. Jagged edges can cause injury to the animal. The rusted out section could create a large enough hole where the serval could potentially escape from its enclosure. In addition the rusted area doesn’t allow for it to be properly cleaned and/or sanitized. The rusted area of the fence must be repaired so there are no longer any jagged edges or holes in the fencing. Correct by 10/11/24. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. End of report. n

2.40(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
The program of veterinary care calls for the attending veterinarian to visit the premises twice a year. The attending veterinarian was last out in November of 2023. Not following the program of veterinary care and having the attending veterinarian visit the premises as per the instructions in the program of veterinary care doesn’t ensure that adequate veterinary care is being provided to the animals on site. An appointment must be made to have the attending veterinarian conduct a visit to the facility. Correct by 1/19/24.

3.125(a) (Non-Critical [REPEAT]) – Facilities, general.

3.127(d) (Non-Critical) – Facilities, outdoor.
On the northeast corner of the perimeter fence, the fencing of the serval enclosure is not 3 feet away from the perimeter fencing. It is approximately one foot away in this section. It must be of sufficient distance from the outside of the primary enclosure to prevent physical contact between animals inside the enclosure and animals or persons outside the perimeter fence. Perimeter fences less than 3 feet in distance from the primary enclosure must be approved in writing by the Administrator. The licensee must fix the fencing in this area to ensure the perimeter fence is 3 feet away from the primary enclosure or the licensee must get approval from the Administrator for the perimeter fencing to remain the way it is currently set up. Correct by 1/19/24. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. End of report. n

2.40(b)(2) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
The facility’s written program of veterinary care states that the cats and servals will be vaccinated annually for panleukopenia, respiratory viruses, rabies, and chlamydia. The licensee stated that the facility is not currently following this guidance and the cats and servals have not received these vaccines since they were juvenile. Not following the guidance in the written program of veterinary care can lead to inadequate protection from disease and illness. The facility must follow the instructions in the program of veterinary care that have been approved by the attending veterinarian. To be corrected by 02 June 2025

3.125(a) (Non-Critical [REPEAT]) – Facilities, general.
The outdoor portion of the enclosure housing both servals and domestic cats have several areas where posts are severely rusted and have jagged edges. Jagged edges can cause injury to the animal. Housing facilities should be maintained in good repair to protect the animals from injury and contain the animals. The rusted area of the fence must be repaired so there are no longer any jagged edges or holes in the fencing.
