3.13(a) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility has a plan for heartworm testing documented in the Program of Veterinary Care. The plan is to test 10% of the adult dogs yearly, but no testing has occurred in at least the last 2 years. Failure to follow the plan to test for heartworms does not ensure the dogs are receiving adequate veterinary care and cases of heartworm may go undetected. Each dealer must follow an appropriate program of veterinary care that is developed, documented in writing, and signed by the attending veterinarian. The licensee must have 10% of the dogs tested for heartworm yearly as instructed by the facility’s Program of Veterinary Care in order to ensure each dog is receiving adequate veterinary care. To be corrected by: Beginning 23-June-2026, the licensee must follow the plan to test for heartworms. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the facility representative. n
