2.40(b)(2) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
The licensee has bird sulfa antibiotics in the kennel and the Attending Veterinarian (AV) has not approved the use of the bird sulfa antibiotics in dogs. Using medications labeled for use in other species is an off label use of the medication that may be inappropriate and detrimental to the health of the dogs. The AV must approve the use of all off label medications before using them on the dogs.

2.50(a)(2) (Non-Critical) – Time and method of identification.
Five weaned puppies all under sixteen weeks of age do not have identification numbers listed on the cage card. Lack of identification does not allow for the proper tracking of the puppies. All puppies must be identified by official USDA identification.

2.75(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Records: Dealers and exhibitors.
The Record of Animals on Hand does not disclose all required information. Lack of complete, accurate and up to date records does not allow for the tracking of the animals. The Record of Animals on Hand must be maintained to fully and correctly disclose all required information for every dog at the kennel.

3.8 (Non-Critical) – Exercise for dogs.
The applicant does not have a documented and approved exercise plan. Lack of an approved exercise plan does not ensure that the animals will receive adequate opportunity for exercise. The applicant must document and maintain a written plan for exercise and the Attending Veterinarian must approve the plan.

3.13(a)(4) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The written Program of Veterinary Care (PVC) is not complete. The PVC must include measures for preventative care and treatment to ensure clean and healthy ears. Lack of a complete and approved PVC doesn’t ensure that proper veterinary care is being provided. The PVC must address preventative care and treatment for healthy ears. This is a 1st Relicense Inspection for a Class A license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the Applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspections or by May 2, 2022 or the applicant will forfeit the licensee fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Relicense Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing license until it expires. End Section

Female golden doodle (microchip # 900164001503627) requires a teeth cleaning. At the time of the dog’s yearly physical the Attending Veterinarian (AV) indicated that the dog had tartar build up on her teeth and that she needed to have her teeth cleaned. The licensee has not yet made any arrangements to have the dog’s teeth cleaned. Tartar build up on the teeth can cause infections of the gums and a painful mouth if not removed. The licensee must have make arrangements with the AV to have the dog’s teeth cleaned. Correct by November 4, 2022. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n

2.40(b)(2) (Non-Critical [REPEAT]) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
Several expired medications (cephalexin Exp 1/20, nemex Exp 9/22, chlorconazole ear flush Exp 9/22, trizedta ear flush Exp 1/20, triple wormer Exp 7/22, derma-vet ointment Exp unreadable and two bottles of liquid melatonin Exp 6/20 and 6/21) were in storage. The licensee is unsure if any of the medications had been used since the expiration dates. Having expired medications in storage increases the likelihood that they will be used on the animals. The use of expired medications might not have the intended effect on the animals or could make them sick. Ensure expired medications are not stored and used on the animals.

A responsible adult was not available to accompany APHIS Officials during the inspection process at 2:00 p.m. on 23 JAN 24. Upon arriving at the facility I knocked on the front door and rang the door bell. I also called the contact number and left a message. The licensee returned my call a few minutes later and stated that she was out of state and unavailable for inspection. End Section
