It is currently due. – Male Frenchie, Sarge (#9917) has no record of receiving the rabies and distemper/parvovirus vaccinations. All are now due. – Female Frenchie, Isabella Tan (#8065) has no record of receiving the rabies and distemper/parvovirus vaccinations. All are now due. Rabies is a deadly virus which causes neurological symptoms and death. It can be passed from dogs to humans through a bite wound. Distemper and parvovirus are very contagious diseases of dogs. They can cause vomiting, diarrhea, neurological symptoms, anorexia, lethargy, dehydration, and death. Vaccination is an important component of preventing these deadly diseases. Additionally, mothers will pass immunity gained by vaccinations to their offspring through their milk. Additionally, the facility has not been performing screening testing for fecal samples as prescribed in the PVC. The PVC calls for 10% of adults and 10% of puppies to have fecal samples tested. In the past year, the facility has had one puppy fecal sample tested. Routine screening of fecal samples is important for surveillance testing for intestinal parasites. Intestinal parasites can cause diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, and other symptoms. The facility must comply, in accordance with a schedule approved by the Attending Veterinarian, for completion of vaccinations for contagious and/or deadly diseases of dogs (including rabies, distemper, and parvovirus) and sampling and treatment of parasites (including worms, coccidia, and giardia). Correct by January 1, 2024. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n

3.13(a)(3) (Non-Critical [REPEAT]) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility is not following the vaccination schedule in the written Program of Veterinary Care (PVC): -The PVC states to administer Rabies vaccinations at 16 weeks of age and then 1 year of age. One male French Bulldog (4418) and one female French Bulldog (4402) did not receive their first rabies vaccination until they were approximately 14 months old. Additionally, the PVC states that animals are to receive Distemper and Parvovirus vaccines (7-way) at 11 and 16 weeks of age, these animals did not receive this vaccine until about 6 months of age. -The PVC states that all adults must receive a heartworm test each year. Records indicate that the last time heartworm testing was performed was in February of 2024. Failure to administer required vaccines and perform heartworm test sampling in accordance with a veterinary approved schedule may result in animals to not be adequately protected against disease and can cause pain and distress. Correct by ensuring all animals are vaccinated and tested in accordance with the schedule approved by the Attending Veterinarian and contact the Attending Veterinarian to create a plan to determine when to administer future vaccinations and when testing will be performed for these animals.

3.13(b)(3) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility does not maintain complete medical records for all animals. Medical records indicated that adult female French Bulldog (9782) was overdue for the Distemper and Parvovirus vaccinations and adult female French Bulldog (0054) was overdue for Distemper, Parvovirus, and Rabies vaccinations. The facility states that these animals were up to date on these vaccinations but they did not record that information in the medical record. Failure to maintain adequate medical records may interfere with the ability of APHIS officials to determine if the animals are receiving adequate veterinary care. Complete medical records must be maintained and include the names of all vaccines and treatments administered and the dates of administration. Correct by documenting all treatments given and ensure that medical records are complete and contain the required information. This is a 1st Re-License Inspection for a Class “A” license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspections or by November 14, 2025 or the applicant will forfeit the license fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Re-License Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing USDA license until it expires. n
