3.10(a) (Direct) – Watering
Four 11-week old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel puppies did not have access to water during the inspection. The licensee reports he moved the puppies into a new enclosure during cleaning. This new enclosure does not have a water bowl or an automatic waterspout. When asked, the licensee provided the puppies with a bowl of water. Three of the puppies directly went to the bowl and drank until the bowl was empty (approximately 45 seconds). The bowl was refilled, and the same three puppies drank for an additional 57 seconds. Access to water is necessary to prevent dehydration, especially in young puppies who may not have a lot of stamina yet. Correct by ensuring potable water is continually provided to all dogs and puppies. Correct by: Nov 20, 2024, onward. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the facility representative. n
