Two English Bulldogs were identified with eye discharge and corneal abnormalities. An adult female English Bulldog identified as “Tacovah” (M/C # 900215003833523) was squinting her left eye and had a large amount of thick yellow discharge. The bottom third of the cornea contained a white cloudy area. The conjunctiva was reddened. The lower eyelid was rolled in with the eyelashes touching the cornea. An adult male English Bulldog identified as “Corona” (M/C # 900215003462331) had a large amount of thick yellow discharge from both eyes. The bottom third of the cornea in the left eye contained a white cloudy area with a raised pink center. The conjunctiva was swollen and reddened. The conjunctiva of the right eye was swollen and reddened with visible blood vessels. The licensee had not observed the corneal abnormalities and no treatment had been administered. Eye problems can progress rapidly, can be painful, and can result in loss of vision. The licensee must have these dogs evaluated by a veterinarian for proper diagnosis, must follow the veterinarian’s treatment plan, and must follow-up with the veterinarian if the problem does not resolve in a timely manner. The licensee must keep medical records for the inspector to review upon request. Correct by the end of business on August 2, 2024. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee.
