2.50(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Time and method of identification.
The licensee does not have any form of identification on the adult dogs in the facility. Proper identification is essential to ensure that each dog can be properly identified and to facilitate proper record keeping. The licensee must obtain and provide each animal with an official form of identification at all times and to facilitate record keeping requirements.

2.126(a)(2) (Non-Critical) – Access and inspection of records and property; submission of itineraries.
At the time of inspection, the Exercise Plan for Dogs, Acquisitions/ Dispositions, Inventory on Hand, and Contingency plan were not available for review by the inspector. The review of records required by the Animal Welfare Act facilitates the inspection process by allowing the inspector to determine compliance and evaluate animal welfare. The facility must ensure that all records are available upon request during the inspection process.

3.6(c)(1)(i) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
The applicant had two dogs singly housed indoors in kennels that did not meet the required minimum amount of floor space. The kennels measured 5.75 square feet. 1. A female pit, no ID, measured 26″ inches long from the nose to the tail base. Thus, requiring 7.1 square feet of floor space. 2. A male pit, no ID, measured 23.5 inches long. Thus, requiring 6 square feet of floor space. Failure to meet the required minimum amount of floor space can lead to unnecessary animal discomfort and distress. Each dog must be housed in a primary enclosure meeting the minimum amount of floor space as calculated by taking the square sum of the length of the dog in inches plus 6 inches then divide the product by 144. The applicant must ensure that primary enclosures used to house dogs meet the required minimum amount of floor space. This inspection was a site approval inspection. This site is not ready for approval to conduct activity covered under your current Animal Welfare Act License. Conducting regulated activities at a non-approved site is a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next new site approval inspection. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with a facility representative. n

3.6(c)(1)(i) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
Three dog enclosures are not providing the minimum required space for the size of dog that is currently being housed there. The enclosures currently measure 24 inches by 30 inches which provides a total of 720 square inches or 5 square feet of space. – One adult female bully, “New New”, measures 23 inches long and requires 841 square inches or 5.84 square feet of space. – One adult female bully, “Sirius”, measures 23 inches long and requires 841 square inches or 5.84 square feet of space. – One adult female bully, “Foxy”, measures 22 inches long and requires 784 square inches or 5.44 square feet of space. Not providing the minimum area of space does not allow for adequate freedom of movement and can lead to unnecessary discomfort and distress for the animal. Each dog must be housed in a primary enclosure meeting the minimum amount of floor space calculated as follows: (length of dog in inches + 6) x (length of dog in inches + 6) = required floor space in square inches; required floor in inches/144 = required floor space in square feet. The licensee must ensure that primary enclosures used to house dogs meet the required minimum amount of floor space. This is a 1st Re-License Inspection for a Class “A” license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspections or by September 20, 2025 or the applicant will forfeit the license fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Re-License Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing USDA license until it expires. n
