3.1(c)(1)(i) (Non-Critical) – Housing facilities, general.
In the outdoor section of the sheltered housing facility there are 5 primary enclosures housing 5 adult dogs with excessive rust on the horizontal support poles at the base of the enclosures. The metal in these areas has a roughened and pitted surface with flaking of the metal in some areas. Surfaces in disrepair such as rusted and pitting metal cannot be adequately sanitized and may harbor organic matter or bacteria that can cause illness or poor health in the dogs. Excessive rusting of metal surfaces can also affect the structural strength of the enclosures. The facility must ensure that all surfaces that come into contact with dogs are free of excessive rust that prevents the required cleaning and sanitation, or that affects the structural strength of the surface. Correct by 9 July 2025 This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the facility representative. n
