2.126(b) (Non-Critical) – Access and inspection of records and property; submission of itineraries.
A responsible adult was not available to accompany APHIS Officials during the inspection process at 5:30-6:30PM on July 10, 2024. The inspector waited at the facility for the licensee; an adult at the address said the licensee might have had to stay later at work. Failure to provide access to the facility, animals, and records for inspection can be a serious violation of the AWA and regulations. Failure to comply may result in enforcement action. End Section

3.1(c)(3) (Non-Critical) – Housing facilities, general.
Four of the whelping enclosures have not been getting a regular daily spot clean and had soiled material in the middle of them. A daily spot clean of hard surfaces dogs can touch helps provide for their comfort and wellbeing by keeping their living areas free from soiled material. A daily spot clean is required for all hard surfaces that dogs can contact and often enough in soft bedding to prevent dogs from contacting waste. Ensure to maintain a routine of daily spot cleaning for the whelping enclosures and for all hard surfaces that dogs contact. ***To be corrected from October 4, 2024 forward. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with a facility representative. n

2.40(b)(3) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
Female Shih Tzu (#77)’s eyes were gray/hazy on the surface and the white part of the eyeball was reddened and eyelids were crusted with some wet hair. These are signs of an active eye problem that was pointed out during inspection and wasn’t under treatment or by the facility. Untreated eye problems could worsen and cause discomfort. Ensure that this dog’s eyes are seen by the attending veterinarian for treatment guidance and follow the treatment plan. ***Correct by 1/10/2025.
3.10(a) (Non-Critical) – Watering
Three adult dogs had empty water bowls at the time of inspection. The licensee provided them water and they did not drink much when given water or appear thirsty, however regulations require that they have access to potable water at all times. Access to potable water at all times helps promote the health of the dogs. If water bowls are used, ensure that they are checked and filled often enough to ensure that dogs always have access to potable water. ***Correct from 1/7/2025 forward.
3.13(a)(4) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
Female Shih Tzu (tag #77) had matted hair by her face and areas of loosely matted hair on her legs and tail. Matted hair can cause discomfort and skin problems. To provide for their health, ensure dogs hair is maintained free from matting. ***Correct by 1/11/2025. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with a facility representative. n
