3.6(a)(2)(ix) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
On the east side outdoor area, in the middle enclosure, one of the posts by an enclosure divider that the dogs can access has had part of the bottom chewed off. Chewed wood can no longer be cleaned and sanitized effectively and if not repaired can affect the structure. Ensure this post is repaired and maintain posts in a manner that can be regularly cleaned and sanitized. ***Correct by 8/27/2024.
3.13(a) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility is following a written program of veterinary care (PVC) that includes regular scheduled visits, a vaccine schedule, heartworm and fecal testing, and other required preventive care but the written PVC is not signed by the attending veterinarian (AV). A signed PVC helps ensure the care schedules in place have been reviewed and approved by the AV. Ensure that the PVC is reviewed and signed by the AV. ***Correct by 8/27/2024. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with facility representatives. n

2.50(a)(1) (Non-Critical) – Time and method of identification.
Nine dogs to be housed short-term at the facility and one of the facility’s breeding dogs (Viola) did not have tags for official identification. Official identification such as tags are important for husbandry tracking of animals. Ensure that each dog has official identification as required. ***Correct by 11/12/2024.
2.51(c) (Non-Critical) – Form of official tag.
Tags at the facility identify each dog by a unique name, however an identification number that is serially numbered is required to uniquely identify each dog. Serially numbering each tag helps track animals for husbandry purposes over time. Ensure to add identification numbers for each tag as required. ***Correct by 12/31/2024.
2.75 (Non-Critical) – Records: Dealers and exhibitors.
Nine dogs are being housed at the facility short-term and have not been added to the record of acquisition with the required information. Up to date records for dogs on hand can be important for animal health tracking purposes. Dogs acquired in the facility must be added to APHIS 7005 with the required information. ***Correct by 11/9/2024.
3.13(a)(4) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
Five dogs were observed to be overdue for maintaining unmatted hair coats (dog names Music, Laddy, Cherry, Goldi, and Viola). The licensee said that haircuts for dogs was programmed for this week, however the dogs had matted hair coats and need to be maintained free from matted hair coats. Matted hair can cause skin problems and discomfort in dogs. Ensure to groom affected dogs and adjust the routine of care to prevent matted hair coats. ***Item was corrected prior to delivery of this report (affected dogs had been groomed and facility began to trim hair on additional unaffected dogs to prevent matting). This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n
