A female shitzu id # 900118000315853 is nursing 4, two week old puppies. She is visibly thin with ribs easily palpated, prominent hips, and her lumbar vertebrae is visible. She is on a puppy diet but is not receiving any additional supplementation to enable her to maintain good body condition while nursing growing puppies. The diet needs to be addressed to ensure she is receiving adequate nutrition during this time for her health and well being. 2.40(b)(3) (Non-Critical) – Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
The licensee did not communicate an issue observed during daily observations to the attending veterinarian in a timely manner. At the time of inspection, a male Havanese puppy (# 523262) born May 23, 2026 was missing the left rear leg, removed at the level of the hip. The area over the hip was already healed and per the licensee injury to the leg occurred from the mother overgrooming soon after birth. The veterinarian was only made aware of this when he stopped by to drop off supplies a few weeks ago. Although per the veterinarian, “nothing could be done to treat”, the licensee should have communicated this medical finding to the veterinarian in a timely matter to ensure the AV has knowledge of incidents of this nature and given the opportunity to provide adequate guidance and care plans for health-related issues and injuries. All future incidents of this nature or any other health care noted through daily observations must be conveyed to the veterinarian in a timely manner so that he may make determination for care. Correct by: June 12, 2026

3.13(a)(2) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
Multiple dogs did not receive a head-to-tail physical exam within a 12-month period. Sixteen (16) dogs had an exam dated 09/24/24 and then another exam was completed 01/03/26. Twenty-eight (28) dogs had exams on 10/8/24 and then again on 12/02/2025. Per this regulation, all dogs must have a completed head to tail physical examination completed not once less than every 12- months to ensure any potential health issues can be noted and a treatment and care plan created for the overall health and well being of the dogs. The licensee needs to work with her veterinarian to ensure there is adequate time to plan for these annual exams so they do not get pushed out further than the required 12 month period.
