3.10(a) (Direct) – Watering
Several dogs didn’t have water available at the time of inspection. The inspection started at 11:45 am. In the whelping portion of the sheltered building there were 4 female dogs with litters; including one female dog with a litter of three puppies; two female dogs each with a litter of two puppies; and one female dog with one puppy. All the enclosures had water bowls, but they were dry. The licensee stated that he has a worker that comes and does evening chores at night and probably left around 6pm the night before and he hadn’t been out yet this morning. The licensee provided water for the four female dogs at the time of inspection; However, upon providing the dogs with water, one adult black and white female Shih Tzu, microchip # 956000010767846, approximately 4 years old drank continuously for approximately 1 minute and 12 seconds. During this time one of her two puppies hovered over her trying to get a drink for itself. Failure to provide continuous potable water may result in severe dehydration which could have a detrimental impact on the health of the animal. Potable water must be continuously available for dogs. The licensee must ensure that each dog is provided with potable water at all times in order to support their health and well-being. To be corrected: from this point forward on 3/17/2023. Note: The licensee provided each of the female dogs with water in their enclosure at the time of the inspection This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. End Section

3.11(a) (Non-Critical) – Cleaning, sanitization, housekeeping, and pest control.
Several of the outdoor portion of the shelter building enclosures were noticed to be covered in approximately 50-75% of feces, making it difficult for the dogs to avoid walking in fecal material. The accumulation of fecal material was noted in: four enclosures housing a total of eleven adult Boxers, one enclosure housing two adult Boston Terriers, one enclosure housing three adult Golden Retrievers, one enclosure housing two approximately 2–3-month-old puppies (one Pomeranian and one Sheba Inu) and one enclosure housing four approximately 3–4-month-old puppies (one Boxer, two Golden Retrievers, and one Sheba Inu). Enclosures that are not kept clean increases risks of disease hazards, insects, and pests. The licensee must ensure that excreta be removed from enclosures daily and as often as necessary to prevent accumulation. Correct by November 7, 2023 This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n
