3.1(c)(2) (Non-Critical) – Housing facilities, general.
There were four dog door inserts that had been excessively chewed by the bull dogs in those primary enclosures’. There were deep grooves and tooth gouges located along all four sides of the framing inserts of the indoor portion of the doggy doors. The chewed material is not able to be sanitized due to the deep grooves in the plastic surface. The inability of being able to sanitize a surface in contact with the regulated animals can become a possible health concern if the material is not repaired or replaced. All surfaces must be maintained on a regular basis. Surfaces of housing facilities – including houses, dens, and other furniture-type fixtures and objects within the facility – that cannot be readily cleaned and sanitized, must be replaced when worn or soiled. To be corrected by: March 18, 2026

3.1(c)(3) (Non-Critical) – Housing facilities, general.
There were six outdoor runs of 16 enclosures that had not been spot cleaned daily. Six of the runs were not cleaned the day before as the licensee ran out of time due to a prior commitment. At the time of inspection there were two days worth of buildup in those six runs. The other 10 runs were within the daily pick up limit. There were four primary enclosures that had a buildup of brown dirt/grime around the doors/door flap area that needed to be spot cleaned more often than the current cleaning/sanitizing schedule of two weeks, in order to keep the primary enclosures at an acceptably clean standard. The lack of spot cleaning to provide clean runs on a daily basis, or increased spot cleaning of primary enclosure surfaces when needed, can increase the risk of possible health issues with the regulated animals. Hard surfaces with which the dogs or cats come in contact must be spot-cleaned daily and sanitized in accordance with § 3.11(b) of this subpart to prevent accumulation of excreta and reduce disease hazards. Floors made of dirt, absorbent bedding, sand, gravel, grass, or other similar material must be raked or spot-cleaned with sufficient frequency to ensure all animals the freedom to avoid contact with excreta. Contaminated material must be replaced whenever this raking and spot-cleaning is not sufficient to prevent or eliminate odors, insects, pests, or vermin infestation. All other surfaces of housing facilities must be cleaned and sanitized when necessary to satisfy generally accepted husbandry standards and practices. Sanitization may be done using any of the methods provided in § 3.11(b)(3) for primary enclosures. To be corrected by: March 15, 2026 This inspection and exit interview were conducted with licensee. n
