3.13(a)(3) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The licensee has not followed the sampling guidance for heartworm or intestinal parasites according to the schedule written in the Program of Veterinary Care (PVC). The PVC dictates that heartworm testing should be performed annually on all adults over 6 months. Fecal testing should be performed on 10% of adults annually and on 5% of puppies twice annually. The licensee nor the attending veterinary clinic could produce records that any heartworm or intestinal parasite screening tests were done in 2025. The last records of heartworm screening were shown completed in August of 2024. Sampling is important to stay aware of parasites in dogs and identify need for treatment if present. Correct by following all PVC instructions including having dogs tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites on the schedule as written in the PVC. Facility has an appointment to correct this by 08/7/2026. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee and a facility representative.
