3.11(d) (Non-Critical) – Cleaning, sanitization, housekeeping, and pest control.
At time of inspection there was a significant accumulation of rodent feces in the food storage shed to include feces on top of some bags of dog food. In an animal holding area adjacent to the whelping area there were too numerous to count flies, both dead and alive. Pests, such as flies and rodents, can not only irritate the dogs but, more importantly, they can transmit diseases which can be detrimental to the dogs’ health. The licensee must establish and maintain an effective pest control program to promote the health and well-being of the dogs and reduce contamination by pests in animal and food storage areas. To be corrected by: 19 June 2024.
3.13(a)(4) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The program of veterinary care does not address a frequency for observing the eyes, nails ,skin, ears, hair coat and teeth nor was there any documentation demonstrating this had been done. Preventative care and treatment are necessary to ensure healthy and unmatted hair coats, properly trimmed nails, clean and healthy eyes, ears, skin, and teeth. A frequency of observation of the eyes, ears, skin, nails, haircoat and teeth must be added to the program of veterinary care and appropriate accompanying documentation made available at time of inspection. To be corrected by: 19 June 2024 This inspection and exit interview were conducted with facility representatives.
