3.6(c)(1)(i) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
Four Havanese puppies (approximately 7 weeks old) were in an enclosure that measured 42” X 29″ for a total area of 1,218 square inches of space. The puppies measured 12”, 13”, 13”, and 14” respectively. Together they required 1,446 square inches of space. Their enclosure was short by 228 square inches of space. Cage space requirements ensure that the dogs have enough room to move about freely within their enclosures. It minimizes the dogs from stepping or sitting in their feces or urine and also minimizes the spread of disease. The licensee must ensure that all enclosures containing dogs and puppies have enough floor space to meet the minimum floor space requirements for the number of and the size of the dogs in that enclosure. Correct starting on 7/5/23. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. End of report. n

2.75(a)(2) (Non-Critical) – Records: Dealers and exhibitors.
The licensee did not have disposition dates recorded on APHIS form 7005 for six dogs that have left the facility. Not recording the disposition dates on APHIS form 7005 doesn’t allow APHIS officials to be able to easily track the dogs that are leaving the facility. All disposition dates must be recorded on APHIS form 7005 in a timely manner. Correct starting on 7/1/26.
3.13(a)(3) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
At least four adult dogs are not up to date on their distemper/parvo vaccinations. Not having all adult dogs up to date on their distemper/parvo vaccinations doesn’t ensure those dogs are adequately protected against those diseases that the vaccine is supposed to protect against. All adult dogs must be vaccinated against distemper/parvo in accordance with a schedule that is approved by the attending veterinarian. Correct by 8/1/26.
3.13(b)(4) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The adult dogs have been examined by the attending veterinarian in the past year and the population has been sampled for heartworm and fecal parasites, but the licensee doesn’t have any records or documentation of these exams or tests. Not having documentation of all exams and records of all tests that are completed doesn’t allow the APHIS inspector to easily ensure the population is in good health. The dates and findings/results of the annual exams must be documented and be available to the APHIS inspector to review during inspection. Correct starting on 7/1/26. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. End of report. n
