Expired oral calcium was observed stored in the building. Expired medications must not be stored and used in regulated animals as the medication might not work as intended. ***Correct by 10/2/2023.
3.3(e)(1)(ii) (Non-Critical) – Sheltered housing facilities.
Two temporary sheltered enclosures have surfaces such as bare wood walls that aren’t impervious to moisture that dogs could contact. The litters housed in the enclosures are scheduled to be moved tomorrow. Surface that dogs contact must be impervious to let them be more readily cleaned and sanitized. Ensure that surfaces that dogs and their litters contact are impervious to moisture and can be readily cleaned and sanitized. ***Correct prior to using these enclosures again. 3.6(a)(2)(i) (Non-Critical) – Primary enclosures.
Two enclosures have an area by the floor drain that have metal corners that were sharp that dogs could touch. These corners had been covered but the dogs have chewed the covers off in the past. Sharp edges could cause injury. Ensure that enclosures don’t have any sharp points or edges that could injure dogs.
3.13(a) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility has an attending veterinarian (AV), a signed program of veterinary care (PVC) however the vaccine and deworming schedule and preventive care schedule have not been written as part of the PVC and formally approved by the AV in writing. Written AV approval for the vaccine schedules and preventive care helps ensure the schedules being followed are adequate to maintain the health of the dogs at the facility. Ensure to work with the AV to review and maintain written preventive care schedules that are approved by attending veterinarian. This is a first Re-License Inspection for a Class A license. The inspection and exit briefing were conducted with the applicant. All items must be in compliance within 2 more inspection(s) or by 9/29/2024 or the applicant will forfeit the license fee and must wait 6 months to reapply. Please contact your inspector to schedule your next Re-License Inspection. Regulated activity can continue under your existing USDA license until it expires. n
