3.13(a)(3) (Non-Critical) – Veterinary care for dogs.
The facility is not following the Program of Vet Care (PVC) for vaccinations. Of the 28 adult dogs, 14 are not up to date on the rabies vaccination, which is required by the Animal Welfare Act. The current Program of Vet Care prescribes for the rabies vaccination to be performed at 12 weeks of age and then yearly. The following dogs are not up to date on the rabies vaccine: – Female Husky “Bethany” #1058 – Female Husky “Trina” #1055 – Female Husky “Sasha” #1052 – Male Beagle “Indie” #4544 – Male French Mastiff “Jasper” #8501 – Male Husky “Rocco” #3851 – Female Beagle “Bella” #4533 – Female Beagle “Ruby” #5539 – Female French Mastiff “Kelly” #5557 – Female French Mastiff “Kaite” #5552 – Male French Mastiff “Cumins” #5540 – Female Husky “Rohda” #5546 – Female Husky “Ruth” #7300 – Female Husky “Tonya” #2496 Additionally, the facility is overdue for their yearly preventative care screening fecal sampling of the kennel. The PVC states 10% of the adult dogs and a composite 10% of the litters need to have fecal samples checked per year. The last stool samples performed for the facility were done on January 3, 2024. Failure to follow the PVC for vaccinations and preventative care screening can leave the dogs susceptible to diseases or parasites, which, if contracted, would cause pain, distress, and suffering. It is additionally important for breeding dogs to be vaccinated because they will pass immunity from vaccines onto their offspring. Correct by administering all of the vaccines required by the Animal Welfare Act (distemper, parvovirus, and rabies) and perform all preventative care screening tests, such as fecal sampling, in accordance with a schedule approved by the Attending Veterinarian and vaccine manufacturer recommendations. Correct By: March 25, 2025, onward. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with the licensee. n
