Bailing Out Benji is a small, non-profit organization that is dedicated to educating about various animal issues. We educate about dog safety, healthy food choices, and the importance of adoption, as well as helping puppy mill dogs by protesting the pet stores that sell their puppies, going to auctions and rescuing as many as we can, we volunteer at rescues and shelters, we put up puppy mill awareness PSAs around Iowa, and we are featured in a world wide documentary about puppy mills Dog by Dog .
While we are primarily located in Ames, Iowa, we send out ambassadors all over the Midwest and Texas to help raise awareness about the puppy mill problem and other animal issues. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more!

Mindi- Our Founder
It was her love of adopting black dogs that pulled Mindi into becoming an advocate for animals. When she first founded Bailing Out Benji in 2011, it was to help animal lovers like her grasp a better understanding of the issues surrounding companion animals. Now, years later, the audience of Bailing Out Benji has spread to tens of thousands- as the group provides free presentations (and educational booths) across the state. In early January 2014, Mindi was asked to be featured in the upcoming documentary “Dog by Dog“- a film that will expose the cruelty of the puppy mill world (which is set to come out in fall 2016) . Mindi was also awarded the 2016 “Advocates we Love” Award from the Humane Society of the United States.
“I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized, I was somebody” Lily Tomlin.
Bailing Out Benji wouldn’t be anything without our volunteers! These men and women are dedicated to helping the puppy mill dogs by being their voice! Thank you all so very much!
